"Teaching the Practice of Praise and the Lifestyle of Worship"
Our amazing team has included many of my talented friends and family members over the years. That includes my dad who has gone home to be with the Lord. They helped shape, develop and finance this ministry over the years. Our current team stands on their shoulders and we are so grateful.
Tehillah Music Ministries was formed in Atlanta, Georgia and currently operates in Rochester, New York. The ministry was granted 501 (c)(3) again in 2019 and is currently working with a small Board of Directors to develop programs that will help address the current needs of our community.
To teach singing and music for the purpose of improving the spiritual life, the mental health, the self-esteem and the life experiences of others.

Because music and reading inspire us, develop us and allow our minds to travel. Both are critical in the development of our children.
Yesterday my pastor preached about love. There was a time when I would I tune out during these messages but I have learned that the concept of love is not as simple as it sounds. My mind immediately went to this scripture as he was talking.
"But I say unto you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, that you may be sons (and daughters) of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. For if you love those who love you, what reward have you? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? And if you greet your bretheren (or sisteren) only, what do you do more than others? Therefore you shall be perfect (or mature), just as your Father in heaven is perfect (or mature).
Too often we hear messages on love and we decide to love our children more, our spouses and our neighbors. But this love, though important, is not the only thing God is calling us to in this hour.
Several years ago I found myself working with emotionally disturbed children. It was so easy to become angry and frustrated by their behavior since they often hit, spit, kicked and call us horrible names. And then we would read their history. It changed my perspective and helped me to understand and have emphathy for them. It even caused me to fall in love them. Through this wilderness experience (that lasted 8 years) I learned unconditional love.
My question is this. Can you love someone outside of your circle? Can you love someone who doesn't act, think or look like you? Can you love someone whom you have been taught your entire life was your enemy? These are the characteristics of mature a Christian.
Most of the time we focus on the laws and commandments that God gave to Moses in the Book of Exodus. But just as important were the instructions that God gave him about worship. These intricate instructions about the tabernacle, its layout and how the priest were to enter God's presence are key to understanding the Gospel message. Each item in the tabernacle represented an aspect of the character of Jesus Christ. The tabernacle was literally a picture of the Messiah who would come to save the world.

A passion for God, a love for people and for children. A singer/songwriter, a teacher and a mother. Phyllis began taking piano lessons in elementary school for $5.00 a week, something her family could afford. In high school there was no such program and private lessons were not an option. It was around that time that she switched to voice lessons. When in good voice many say she sings like an angel. She has been singing since the age of 12, studying at West High School, Brighton High School, Fayetteville University, Eastman School of Music and Morris Brown College. Her formal training has been enhance by her time spent training under the late William Watson (Trinity Emmanuel Presbyterian Church), the late Dr. James Bowman (Trinity Emmanuel Presbyterian Church), Mrs. Robbie Simmons (Powerhouse COGIC), Dr. Judith McAllister (National Music Director for COGIC) The Late Mattie Moss Clarke (Former National Music Director of COGIC), Dr. Melva Costen (Music Chair at the Interdenominational Theological Center - ITC), Babbie Mason (Babbie Mason Ministries) and many more. Phyllis holds degrees in business, church music, christian education and ministry. She works tirelessly to raise her children and to build a relevant ministry to help low income children enjoy some of the good things in life and to fulfill her purpose which is to teach others to sing and to worship God.
